    Ideal time for taking Plaquenil and side effects? Lupus. Apr 12, 2011 I take 200mgs in the morning with breakfast and the other 200mgs with my dinner at 5 pm, as long as i eat enough i don't get any side effects. when i was on it about 7 years ago, i was told by the Dr to take it at night only, and i guess i did'nt take it with enough food cos i use to get terrible gas and my stomach hurt.
